Howard Zinn: A People’s History of the United States

oh zinn my love

I read most of this in APUSH/outside of APUSH, and the graphic novel version. The graphic novel is better than the actual book IMO. You can actually see the little professorly looking Howard Zinn commenting on the plight of workers from the outside of panels.

You know, I know that it’s pretty much completely true, but it still gets tiring to hear: YOU’RE WHITE. YOU’RE AN OVER-PRIVILEGED DOUCHE-BAG WHO IS RACIST WITHOUT EVEN TRYING. ALL EVIL IN THE WORLD STARTED WITH YOUR WHITENESS. 

Yes, it’s so difficult, being constantly judged and having things assumed because of our race.
Oh, wait.

Whenever I encounter a white person who seems to genuinely “get” the issues facing minorities, I just get this really overwhelming desire to hug someone.
